TRHL Expands for 2022-2023 Season

TRHL Expands for 2022-2023 Season

The Twin Rivers Hockey League welcomes the Hanley Huskies and the Kinistino Tigers to the league for the 2022-2023 season. Both teams come to us from the Wheatland Hockey League, where Hanley was in 5th place last season and Kinistino was in 3rd place and lost to Wadena in the Championship series. We will have more great hockey and rivalries to look forward to in the upcoming season.

Birch Hills Blackhawks 2021-22 TRHL Champions

Congratulations to the Twin Rivers Hockey League 2021-2022 Champions, the Birch Hills Blackhawks. This series was a rematch from 2 years ago when Covid-19 shut down the world; the Blackhawks and the Silvertips were 1 game into their series that year. 

Game 1 was a back-and-forth game, with Birch Hills coming out of the game with a 6-4 win. Game 2 in Shellbrook was another exciting game, with the Silvertips tying the game with less than 2 minutes left to send the game into overtime. The Blackhawks scored less than 1 minute into the 10-minute sudden victory overtime period to win 4-3. In game 3, Birch Hills led 2-1 after the first period. After 40 minutes of play, the score was tied 3-3. The Blackhawks came out strong in the 3rd period and scored 3 goals to win the game by a score of 6-3 over the Silvertips.

The Twin Rivers Hockey League had some excellent hockey games during the playoffs, with 5 games going to overtime, 3 regulation games decided by 1 goal and 6 games decided by 2 goals.

Congratulations to the Most Valuable Player in the Playoffs – Brady Keller of the Birch Hills Blackhawks.  Brady scored 6 goals and assisted on 8 others during playoffs.

2021-2022 TRHL Award Winners

2021-2022 TRHL Award Winners

The Twin Rivers Hockey League is pleased to announce the 2021-22 award winners:

-The award for Top Scorer goes to Dylan Smith, Shellbrook with 64 points (33 goals and 31 assists).

-The Top Goaltender, with a goals against average of 2.81, was Blake Martin, Rosthern.

-The Most Valuable Player - Playoffs will be announced after the final series.

The following awards were voted on by the teams:

-Most Valuable Player: Regular Season: Dylan Smith, Shellbrook.

-Best Defenceman: Kyle Schmidt, Waldheim.

-Most Sportsmanlike Player: Michael Epp, Rosthern; Hunter Schnell, Birch Hills.

-Rookie of the Year: Gage Helm, Shellbrook.
